A fellow blogger keeps urging his readers to do the iPod shuffle meme–put the iPod on shuffle and write down the next 12 or so titles that come up. A variation I’ve seen is to have the song titles answer a set of questions in the order they appear. So, while I wait for the rain to stop before I head out for a run, here’s the story of my life as answered by the next 13 songs on my Nano 🙂

Will I have a happy life? Emotion, Destiny’s Child
Do people secretly lust after me? Fantasy, Earth, Wind and Fire
How can I make myself happy? Island in the Sun, Weezer
What should I do with my life? Sailing Man, Neil Halstead
Will I ever have children? Left Behind, Aqualung
What is some good advice for me? I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night), Electric Prunes (gotta love that name for a band)
How will I be remembered? Invisible Girl, Minnie Driver
What is my signature dance song? Incense and Peppermints, Strawberry Alarm Clock
What do I think my current theme song is? Just Like Heaven, The Cure
What song will play at my funeral? Somebody’s Crying, Chris Isaak
What type of men do I like? Wishing on a Star, Rose Royce
What is my day going to be like? She Will Be Loved, Maroon 5
Gives one pause, yes?

Do you know, I still don’t have an iPod?
Maybe I should add it’s because I can’t seem to find a need for one – most of the time I want music I’m at home or in the car, and both have a CD player
Earth, Wind, and Fire is my favorite cruising music. I find myself dancing in the seat when I’m driving to their music. On-lookers must have quite a laugh, but I’m enjoying myself, and that’s all that matters.
I’ll play along

Do people secretly lust after me? The Gift to be Simple, The Susquehanna Chorale

What should I do with my life? It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing, Tony Bennett
Will I ever have children? A LIttle Duet for Zoot and Chet, Chet Baker
What is some good advice for me? A Part Vous, A Part Vous, Louis Chedid
